Hazel Grace Peterson was born on February 16, 1919 in Lake Williams, Kidder Co, ND. Hazel attended school in Tappen, ND, and higher education at Valley City and Bemidji State Colleges. She taught school for many years in Gentilly and Plummer, MN, retiring from teaching in 1989.

On December 27, 1941 she married Ralph Luxenburg. They farmed in Lake Pleasant Township raising five children. The family were members of St. John Lutheran Church of Red Lake Falls and active in their children's schools, Lake Pleasant 4-H Club, and Lake Pleasant Homemakers.

After the death of Ralph Luxenburg in 1965, Hazel married George Ollie on June 7, 1969 and lived on their family farm near Plummer, MN. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in other community organizations.

Hazel was a positive, strong person, without complaint. She had strong faith and deep emotional love for her family and friends. She raised her children to know there was no greater commitment than family, faith, and friendship. She enjoyed many activities and experiences. Some of them were playing Scrabble with her children, checkers with her grandchildren, cards, traveling, flowers (especially violets), teaching, singing, dancing, poetry, sewing, quilting and reading.

In 2004 Hazel moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls. She developed friendships with residents and staff. She was always thankful for the wonderful care and love given to her.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Susette) Luxenburg, Houston, TX, Sharon Iverson, Chanhassen, MN, Diane Doherty, Fife, WA, Dean Luxenburg, Centerville, MN; 10 grandchildren, Brenda Treend, Linda Drapela, Lisa Luxenburg, Lana Davidson, Dan Iverson, Loralee Iverson, Heather Doherty, Sydney Doherty, Guy Luxenburg, Tara Buckbee; nineteen great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marion Kaltenberg of Crookston, MN and Alice Wentz of Wenatchee, WA; 4 brothers, Fritz Peterson, Allen Peterson and Lester Peterson of Washington State and Floyd Peterson of California, along with many nieces and nephews.
