Robert G. McLeod, of Ionia, Mich., age 81, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008.


He was born on February 27, 1927 in Lake Odessa, MI the son of Harold and Martha (Robison) McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy on the LST805 in the Pacific Theater, was a member of the Saranac American Legion Post #37 and the Perrinton VFW Post #1735. He was retired from the State of Michigan and loved the fresh air of the outdoors and fishing.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lyle and Ron; sister, Geraldine.


Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Pearl; 3 children, Cheryl (Ron) Irish of Ionia, Mitch McLeod of Grand Rapids, and Harold (Sheila) McLeod of Ionia; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Lake, Tosha Mullennix, Heather Brandt, Ryan Irish, and John Irish; 9 special great grandchildren, Gabrielle Marie Lake, Paige Edwards, C.J. and Chase Brandt, Grace, Ellie, Randy, Mary, and Joey Irish; siblings, Anita Amy, Dean McLeod, and Max (June) McLeod; loving dog, Heidi.


The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor of Shiloh Community Church at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Interment will take place in the spring at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Monday.
