Mildred Brindle, 89, of Ionia, died Sunday at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. She was born, the daughter of Eugene and Althea Leach Vohlers, Oct. 30, 1902, in Ionia. She was graduated from the Ionia High School in 1921. She was graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1923.

She was a member of the First Christian Church for 81 years and a fifty year member of the Gleaners. She was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a secretary for 19 years at Ionia Public Schools. She was a physical education teacher for two years in Toledo. She married Michael P. Brindle in 1927, in Bremerton, Washington. He preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by her son Michael of Ionia; three granddaughters Katie, Margaret, and Christine; two great grandsons, Christopher and Justin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace and Lylia.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Ionia, with the Rev. F. Michael Valentine officiating. The organist will be Thelma Walkington. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Buerl, Roger and Brett Guernsey, Terry and Al Bowerman, and Jim Johnson. A memorial has been established for the Church Steeple Fund, in care of the funeral home.
