John Richard Beard, 68, of San Jose CA, formally of Rushville, IN passed away March 7, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Beard was born April 27, 1939 in Rushville the son of the late Lee Beard & Hilda (Farthing) Beard. He was married to Eleanor Littrell January 2, 1963 and she survives he was a security officer for Underwriter's Laboratory in San Jose. He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and a former officer of the Rush County Sheriff Dept. He also worked many years at the former Perfect Circle and Todd Ambulance Service in Rushville. He also worked at Lockheed Martin in Calf. He was a US Air Force veteran serving from 1959 to 1963.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons Scott Beard of Sonnydale, CA, Christopher (wife Julie) Beard & Randall Beard both of San Jose, CA; one daughter Deanne (husband Lester) Land & one brother Joe Beard both of Rushville; five grandchildren also survive.
He is preceded by three brothers. James, William and Sean Edward "Jean"
A Celebration of Life will be held 10 AM Thursday March 13th at Todd Funeral Home 805 N Main Rushville, IN 46173, with Rev. Ralph Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery Arlington, IN, following the ceremony with military graveside honors at the cemetery.

I remember John as the father of Deanne and her brothers living one or two houses from Belle Gregg elementary school growing up in Rushville.
