T. J. Carlisle, Jr. was the son of Thomas J. Carlisle, Sr. and Mattie Brooks.
"On Thursday evening,the 22nd,Mr Thomas Carlisle,of Luverne was hauling the iron cages from the depot to the new jail,was seriously injured by the team becoming frightened and attempting to run,throwing Mr. Carlisle out,when he was crushed beneath the wheels.He died Saturday afternoon the 24th. Mrs. Carlisle, who was visiting relatives in
Georgia was telegraphed for,but did not reach home till Friday night. Decease leaves a wife and one child and a host of friends,to whom extends sympathy in their sad bereavement."
