John Edwards came to Charleston, SC around 1751, he built the stately mansion #15 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC. He was married first to Dorothy Bassett, daughter of the Rev Nathan Bassett, pastor of Circular Congregational Church in Charleston. Second wife was Margaret Peronneau and third wife was Rebecca Bee Holmes a widow.

The date John Edwards came to Charleston should be around 1751. He was one of the residents who was arrested and exiled by the British to St. Augustine and then later to Philadelphia PA where he died. After the war, his body was returned to Charleston.
