Juanita Lowell Hoover
August 5,1932 - January 1,2009
Dearly beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Juanita Hoover passed away early New Year's day at her home at Mount Garfield Assisted Living. '
Juanita was born on August 5, 1932 to John L. and Inez (Bishop) Hoover in Yuma, Colorado. She graduated from Crawford High School, attended Mesa Junior College, and graduated from Fort Lewis Junior College and Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana.
She taught first grade in Grand Junction before becoming a voca­tional therapist and teacher at the Regional Center, retiring in late 1980's.
Throughout her life Juanita endured many health problems but al­ways maintained a positive outlook and stayed busy. When her mother could no longer live alone Juanita provided a home and cared for her until she passed away in 1993. She loved tending her flowers, reading, and in more recent years researching family 'gene­alogy, knitting sweaters for each of her family and extended family members, and cutting out paper snowflakes to decorate the assisted living rooms and windows for* Christmas.
Juanita is survived by her brother, Mack and his wife, Joan Hoover of Clifton; sisters, Edith Wright and Ettamarie Hatfield of Grand Junction; brother-in-law, Richard Ewing and his wife, Barbara of Whitewater; numerous nieces and nephews, many friends at Mount Garfield Assisted Living, and brothers and sisters in Christ at the Hawthorn Park Community Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Louis Hoover; sisters, Joyce Ewing and Twila Bell Hoover, and former husband, William Stride Jr.
Visitation will be from 4 - 6:00 p-.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Martin Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.,-Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Hawthorn Park Community Church of God, 4th and Hill Avenue with burial at 2:30 p.m. Inter­ment will be at the Crawford Cemetery, Crawford, CO, where her parents, grandparents, great grandparents and many other family members are laid to rest.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Mortuary.
