Roy Ransom Brockett was the Mayor of Kenmore, New York, from 1924 to 1929. Later he was on the Board of Supervisors in Erie County, New York, from 1930 to 1950. He was a Supervisor in the Town of Tonawanda in 1942. He was a very popular politician, and was active in all layers of government. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention from New York in 1952, as well as a member of S.A.R. and Sigma Chi fraternity, to name a few.
Roy married Olive Bertha Norris on 27 Dec 1906 in Oakfield, New York. Olive was the daughter of Rev. Carlton Henry Norris and Harriet "Hattie" Augusta Morton.
Roy and Olive were very active at the Kenmore United Methodist Church. There are four stained glass windows in that church dedicated to Rev. Carlton Norris, Hattie (Morton) Norris, Roy Ransom Brockett and Olive Bertha (Norris) Brockett.
The Brocketts lived in Kenmore, but had a second home on Grand Island, New York. At one point, they gave a large tract of land on Grand Island to the Boy Scouts to use for their camp grounds.
Roy's children and grand children used to love to visit the second home on Grand Island for family gatherings in the summer-time.
