Henry Heyd was born 10-7-1786 in Wurttenberg, Bavaria, Germany. Henry embarked from Liverpool, England on 30-3-1801, on the ship "Thomas", and arrived Philadelphia on 7-9-1801.

The passenger list also lists an Abel Heyd perhaps a brother?, .Abel located in Ontario County, NY and served in the war of 1812. In 1837 Abel moved to Livingston County,Michigan and purchased 80 acres.

Henry settled in Bucks County, Pa. at the young age of 16. Married Mary Ashbaugh, between 1802 and 1805. In 1809, they started their journey west; 1810 census lists Henry Heyd at MiddlePaxton Twp., Dauphin County, Lancaster, Pa. During their journey west, Henry Jr. was born in Cumberland County in 1815.

Arrived in middle of 1815 at Milton Twp, Wayne County, Ohio (Near Rittman, Ohio). At this time there were only a hand full of settlers living in eastern Wayne Co. Henry was naturalized in 1828 in Wayne County, Ohio. Records do not list his birthplace, except Germany.

In 1839 purchased 40 acres of Lot 56 for $400 and it became the family Homestead until 1858 Henry Heyd and Mary Ashbuagh, d. 28-8-1872, age 83y, 3m, 21d are buried in plot 641-642 in the Mennonite Cemetery on Guilford Road, Guilford Twp., Seville, Ohio.
