In 1809, they started their journey west; 1810 census lists Henry Heyd at MiddlePaxton Twp., Dauphin County, Lancaster, Pa. During their journey west, Henry Jr. was born in Cumberland County in 1815.
Arrived in middle of 1815 at Milton Twp, Wayne County, Ohio (Near Rittman, Ohio). At this time there were only a hand full of settlers living in eastern Wayne Co. Henry was naturalized in 1828 in Wayne County, Ohio. Records do not list his birthplace, except Germany.
In 1839 purchased 40 acres of Lot 56 for $400 and it became the family Homestead until 1858 Henry Heyd and Mary Ashbuagh, d. 28-8-1872, age 83y, 3m, 21d are buried in plot 641-642 in the Mennonite Cemetery on Guilford Road, Guilford Twp., Seville, Ohio.
