Russell Earl Johnson
Russell Earl "Tim" Johnson, age 89, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed
away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in a local hospital.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1911, in Walton County, and was a lifelong
resident of Walton County. He retired in 1971 from federal employment at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He was a resident at Stanley House of DeFuniak Springs, where he had endeared himself to the residents and staff. Mr. Johnson was a 50-year member and past master of Herman Lodge 108 F&M of Freeport, Fla., and a member of East Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Jessie Alma
Earley Johnson; and three sisters, Wanda Ward, Lula Merle Hughes and
Vertie C. Caswell. All who knew Mr. Johnson will miss his mind and
gentlemanly spirit and he will be long remembered by his family and
friends.
Survivors include his sons, Dale Johnson and wife Bunny of Port
Charlotte, Fla., Russell Johnson and wife Patricia of Milton, Fla., and Thomas Johnson and wife Emily of DeFuniak Springs; daughters, N. Ruth Simmons and husband Jerry Evans of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Frankie Bishop of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Virginia Johnson Woolweaver of Tampa,Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson leaves behind his little dog, Sparky.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at East
Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Bricker officiating. Mr. Johnson will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Burial will follow in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
