Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI) - January 27, 2004

Deceased Name: Fraley, Eugene

Fraley, Eugene Born June 3, 1921 to Den and Cassie Blakenship Fraley. Born to Eternal Life January 24, 2004. A loving and devoted husband to Barbara (nee Bath) since September 13, 1951, with whom he raised five children, all who survive him. Gene was raised in rural Ohio during the depression by his mother Cassie (Blankenship, Billings) and with his sisters Myrtle (Richard) Miley, and Sadie, all who preceded him in death. A convert to the Catholic faith in 1965, he was the embodiment of the Church's teachings. Charitable, generous and kind, he was an inspiring example for his children: Diane (Kenny) Ruchalski, Rich (Diane), Mike (Chris), Daryl and Brian. His love of children was evident again late in life as he became a grandfather to Sara and Eric. He is survived by scores of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 11 AM at DIVINE MERCY (695 College Avenue South Milwaukee). Visitation Wednesday at the Church from 9:30 AM until ti! me of Mass. Entombment Arlington Park Cemetery. Gene served this nation honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Though never boastful, he often reminisced about his tour of duty aboard the USS Hamul and the old USS Texas. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Electric Post 228. While enjoying hunting and fishing as a younger man, Gene actively pursued his passions of golfing and bowling upon his retirement from Milwaukee Electric Tool in 1984. His outgoing nature and his love for a bargain brought him to hundreds of area rummage sales over the years, including countless of his own. The family would like to thank all of the EMT's and the first responders as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke's South Shore who provided compassionate care during his final hours. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, the family asks that you honor the life of Gene Fraley by emulating his selfless kindness and generosity. "May he rest in peace." BRETT FUNERAL HOME
