Very little is known of my husband's Great Grandfather other than his dates and the fact that he was a policeman for the City of Philadelphia, PA, with a badge number of 808. He was born in New Jersey on March 2, 1849, to Isaac Smith and Susannah T. Clark.

On Dec. 25, 1875, he married Mary M. Drollinar (or Drollinger) in Philadelphia, PA, and they lived in the home of Mary's mother, Catharine Drollinar (or Drollinger), a widow. Isaac and Mary later moved to Haddon Heights, New Jersey, but the exact date is not known.

One of his sons was Jacob Grayson Smith, who later changed his name to Grayson W. Smith; this man was my husband's grandfather. Another son was Howard Smith, a well-known painter, born in Philadelphia on September 23, 1877. Howard had a twin sister named Kate (Kathrine), but it is believed that she died in her 20's. She was still alive, age 22, in the 1900 census. Another child born to Isaac and Mary was Oscar, who was born and died in 1880.

Isaac died in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, on 16 March 1934. He was buried on March 20, 1934, in Fernwood Cemetery in PA.
