Carol Jean Failer
SMITHVILLE, Mo. — Carol Jean Failer, 68, Smithville, formerly of Salina, Kan., and culver, Kan., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, after a lengthy illness. Carol was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Lincoln, Mo.
Carol attended school and graduated from Culver High School and later moved to Salina, where she attended Marymount College and was employed at Weeks grocery, Montgomery Wards, Consolidated Printing and OCCK.
In 1996, she moved with her mother, Ida "Susie" Failer, to Smithville, to be close to her brother and family and help care for her mother.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Johnie; and mother, Ida Failer. She is survived by her brother, Richard and wife Pam; nephews, Richard and wife Leslie Failer and John and wife Ramona Failer; a niece, Janet and husband James Worley; eight great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Kan.
