The Huntsville Times, Huntsville, Alabama Monday, September 5, 1955: Hawkins Funeral Set For Tuesday. Rites To Be Held At 2 P.M. From The Pleas Mount Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Hawkins, 92, Route 1, Gurley, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Pleas Mount Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Stone will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleas Mount Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins, a native of Jackson County, was a member of the Pleas Mount Baptist Church for 70 years. Survivors are four sons, Jim B. Hawkins, R. F. Hawkins, Dave Hawkins and John W. Hawkins, all of Route 1, Gurley; one daughter, Mrs. Aaron Holman of Huntsville; two brothers, Ben Isbell of Gurley and Jim Isbell of Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. W. V. Snead of Owens Cross Roads; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be W. T. Hawkins, Eugene Hawkins, Henry Hawkins, Tommy Hawkins, Moody Sublett and Fred Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. L. Carpenter, Dr. Grady Baker, the Rev. Denton Adams, John Reed, M. C. Gray and G. G. Gray. The body will be at Laughlin-Service Chapel until the service.
