Elisabethe Margaretha [Gerlicher] Prass was born in the Village of Grossgarnstadt, Germany, in the area of what was then the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg, Daughter of Andre Gerlicher and Barbara [Niller] Gerlicher. She was married 17 January 1822 to Johann Nicol Prass, and they were the parents of seven children, all born in Grossgarnstadt, Germany.
All of their adult children, along with their present and future spouses, emigrated to the United States from Germany in stages from 1846 to 1854, first to New York, then to Ohio, with a couple of sons later locating to Indiana, bringing their parents over after they had settled. Both Parents died in Brookville, Ohio, and are buried in Landis Cemetery.
