MULVANE - Heersche, Winifred C., age 89, died Friday, January 9, 2009. Visitation 3pm to 8pm Sunday and 10am to 8pm Monday with family present from 6 to 8pm at Senter-Smith Mortuary, 501 S.E. Louis Blvd., Mulvane; funeral service 10am Tuesday at Mulvane United Methodist Church, 107 S. Central, Mulvane; graveside will follow at El Paso Cemetery, Derby. Winifred was born on December 29, 1919 in rural Mulvane, the daughter of Fred Wilson and Charlotta Catherine (Ford) Farber. She was a graduate of Wesley School of Nursing prior to getting married. On October 19, 1947, she married George Heersche, Sr. at Mulvane Methodist Church. Winifred was a longtime member at the church and was involved in Circle Group and many Bible studies over the years. She was also involved in EHU (Sundowners), 4-H, Wesley Nursing Alumni and was the first female member of the Mulvane school board. Winifred enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her free time. Survivors include: husband of 61 years, George, Mulvane; children, Dr. George, Jr. and wife, Kathy, Lexington, KY; Dr. Richard and wife, Chris, Wellington; Stewart and wife, Debbie, Mulvane; Daniel and wife, DeAnne, Mulvane; Fred and wife, Karen, Mulvane; James, Mulvane; Mike Koob and wife, Nancy, Derby; grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer), Kimberly, Charlotta, Jennifer, Jeffrey (Joni), Jason, Matthew, Joseph, Taylor, Connor, Max, Jed, Garrett, Mark, Stephanie (Greg), Michelle (Tim) and Kim; great grandchildren, Ryan, Samuel, Alex and Jordan; brother, Neal Farber, Grove, OK. Winifred was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Labbe; and a grandson, John Heersche. Memorials have been established with the Mulvane United Methodist Church, 107 S.
