Mrs. Lorene Owings Ashby
Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Owings Ashby, 75, of Van Vleet died Monday, Oct 6 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct 8, at the Houston Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Houston Cemetery. The Rev. J H Moore and the Rev. Robert Marshall officiated.
Mrs. Ashby was a retired housewife and a member of the Van Vleet Baptist Church.
Born in Monroe County she was the daughter of Marcus Vandiver Owings and Mrs. Mable Conaway Owings.
She is survived by her husband, Gus Ashby of Van Vleet; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Allen of Olive Branch; a son, Gus Ashby, Jr., of Hernando; a sister, Mrs. Reba Stoddard of Aberdeen, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Larry Bonds, Robby Allen, Ricky Ashby, Kim Ashby, David Lowe and Earl Carter.
