The date on tombstone is incorrect. All the Censuses support the 1897 birth date. In addition his WWII Draft Registration has his date of birth as 21 Apr 1897. His WWI Draft Reg has place of birth as Pier City, Arkansas. His WWII Registration has Martha, Arkansas. I have been unable to find either city other than there was a Martha, AR in Howard County. But it is safe to say he was born in Arkansas.
