===============================================================

The first Commander of the Ancient and Honourable Order of the Jersey Blues was Captain Francis Drake of Piscataway, serving from 1673-1685. The Blues started off with a company of only 85 men, and by 1685 they were 500 strong. They served in Barbados in 1732, they served under General Braddock in 1743, his "beloved Blues", and in Campaign of 1768 ended with complete victory for The Blues, and terminated the French and Indian War. They became the Queen's Rangers with headquarters at the Parker Castle in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. In the American Revolution they fought against the British at Brooklyn Heights, the Heights of Harlem, White Plains, Trenton, Assunpink, Princeton, Springfield, Monmouth, and Yorktown. The Jersey Blues fought in the War of 1812, the Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. To this day, the 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the New Jersey National Guard carries the designated insignia of Jersey Blues.
