ALTOONA TRIBUNE, Altoona, Blair, Pennsylvania of 12 Mar 1895 reads:
"After two years of keen suffering from diabetes, Oscar Lawrence Borst died at 9
o'clock yesterday morning. He had long been an invalid, but the last serious
attack which resulted fatally began about ten days ago. The deceased was born
near Sandusky, Ohio, July 14, 1858, and was aged at death 36 years, 7 months and
25 days. In early childhood he came with his parents to Alexandria, and
afterwards resided at Spruce Creek. At the latter place he was united in
marriage to Miss Marybell Henderson, who survives him with four daughters, Cora
Esther, Bessie Pearl, Beulah Clair and Ruth Elizabeth. Shortly after his
marriage Mr. Borst went to Huntingdon, where he was employed in the car shops.
He came to Tyrone four years ago and worked at his trade as carpenter until
death obliged him to relinquish labor. His mother died Feb. 10, 1892, and his
father passed away suddenly June 6, 1894. Two brothers and a sister survive
him. They are W. J. Borst, of Milesburg; Harry W. and Miss Kate Borst, of
Tyrone. Funeral services at the late home of the deceased, corner Pennsylvania
avenue and Fifteenth street, will be conducted by Rev. R. H. Gilbert, at 1.15
o'clock Wed. afternoon. The remains will be conveyed on the afternoon train to
Spruce Creek, thence to Franklinville for interment."
