1862- Thomas Hooks Pv. Mch 4, 1862 (Enlisted Starkville, Lee, Ga.) He was discharged Nov. 7. He
states that he is 6 ft. 1 in. dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair. He said he was born 1817
(Says 45) (Census record shows 32) Baker Co. Ga. (Baker was created 1835 from Early Co. Ga.-
Reuben & Hillery were in 1840 Early Co.)
1863- William R. Hooks enrolled in Militia CSA
1863- Jan & Feb Muster Roll-show Daniel enlisted 3-4-62 by Capt. Ware at Starkville Ga. for 3 years.
Remarks: Absent at time roll was made. Sick since 25 Aug 1862. Roll also shows he was last paid
on 12-31-1862 by Capt. Wallock
1864- Sept. & Oct. Roll shows absent-Remark-Prisoner of War since Jun. 1, 1864
1864-Nov. & Dec. Prisoner of war since Jun 1, 1864
1865- Jan & Feb Prisoner of War (Regimental Return for Month of March shows absent with leave.
1864- Jun. 11 Daniel Hooks arrived at White Horse, Va. Captured Jun 13?? 1864 at Gaines Farm (Va)
transferred to Elmira, NY. Beeig received at latter place Jul. 17 1864. He died Sept. 9, 1864 of

Miss Lillian Henderson's Roster gives burial site as Grave 511 Woodlawn Nat'l Cemetery. (She
erroneously says he was captured at Cold Harbor Va 6-1-1864- and correctly that he died at
Elmira.
REGISTER OF CHIMBORAZO HOSPITAL #4 Richmond Va The Medical Director's Office- list
Disease:Pnumonia. Admitted Nov. 9, 1862 and transferred to Petersburg Nov 14. Register of
CSA General Hosp Farmville Va shows his complaint as Diarrhea, admitted 3-19-1863 and
returned to duty May 20, 1863. Another register shwos he was admitted to Farmville Hosp 3-
18-1863 and transferred to Macon Ga. Apr. 28, 1863.


Bounty Pay Receipt Roll shows that Daniel received Bounty of $50, which means he volunteered for service.
