Deceased Name: JAMES V. HAMMOND
JAMES V. HAMMOND, 73, of Colorado Springs died Oct. 7 in Montrose. He was a mechanic and auto electric technician at C & D Auto Electric Co.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home, Fountain and Union boulevards. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Ward, 2750 Melissa Drive, with Mr. Jeff Courtier officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Hammond was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Colorado Springs, to Isaac M. and Lydia (James) Hammond. He was a lifetime resident of the community. Mr. Hammond graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1935. He served in the Navy from 1945 until 1946 as a motor machinist third class. Mr. Hammond was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Ward, and was a member and racer with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Association.

He was married Aug. 25, 1936, at First Christian Church, Colorado Springs, to Lalah Cantrell, who survives.

Mr. Hammond also is survived by a son, James of Grand Junction; two daughters, Sandra Hudson of Colorado Springs and Sharon White of Norwood; three sisters, Nancy Williams and Velma Barnes, both of Colorado Springs, and Dorothy Younger of Santa Maria, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
