Services for Paul Albert Wood, 82, Perry, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Perry United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Souter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
Paul died Sunday, April 17, 1994, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.
He was born April 27, 1911, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Joseph A. and Margaret R. Rogers Wood. He had lived in Perry for many years.
He joined the U.S. Navy at an early age but was called home on a hardship release after his father's death.
Paul worked as a custom casket maker for the Rexart Casket Co., in Kansas City and later in Perry. He also worked at Hercules Powder Co., DeSoto, and DuPont Co. in Topeka until 1976.
He and his wife, Wanda, worked for the Perry-LeCompton High School as custodians until they retired in 1987.
Mr. Wood was a former mayor of Perry. He was a member of Perry United Methodist Church and served on the pastor-parish relations committee.
He married Wanda Maxine Woodson on Dec. 31, 1938, at Kansas City, Kan. She died Aug. 6, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Hershel Charles Wood, Topeka; a daughter, Paula Kaye Hladky, Perry; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
