Mr. James Robert Batten age 63 of Nahunta (Brantley Co) died suddenly Monday morning (January 5) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Brantley County.
He was a native of Pierce County and had lived all of his life in Pierce and Brantley Counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard Batten and Clara Mae Nichols.
Mr. Batten was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist Faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he was a Bronze Star recipient.
Mr. Batten is survived by his 2 sons Jason Batten of Nahunta and Luke Batten and special friend Candice O'Quinn, both of Nahunta, his former wife Louise Batten of Nahunta, a brother Felton B. Batten wife Sheila of Blackshear and a sister Patricia Britt of Blackshear, a step-brother Randy Tyre of Offerman and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A funeral service will be held 11am on Friday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thurday evening from 7 until 9pm at the funeral home.
