Ruby Avent Myers, 72, died May 31, 2006, at her home in Cedar Bluff.

Mrs. Myers was a retired homemaker and a member of the Starkville Church of God.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in law, Clayton Myers, and Darrell and Deborah Myers of Cedar Bluff, and Wayne and Stella Myers of Thomasville, Ala.; six brothers, J.G. Avent and Harvey Avent of Pittsburg, Texas, M.D. Avent, Jimmy Avent and Joseph Avent of Clarkson, and John Avent of Kilmichael; six sisters, Katherine Ray of Bradley, Joyce Wolf of Grayville, Ill., Jewel Wilson of New Caney, Texas, Eva Mae Poe of Fame, Grace Ellis of Ellisville and June Coleman of Cedar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Myers; her parents, Lucille Hooper Avent and John Robert Avent; two brothers, Ethel Lee Fason and Glenn Avent; and a sister, Elsie Lucille Avent.

Services were June 2 at Starkville Church of God with burial in Clarkson Cemetery. The Rev. Steve McCullar officiated.

Memorials may be made to the Starkville Church of God, 701 S. Montgomery St., Starkville, MS 39759.

Welch Funeral Home of Starkville was in charge of arrangements.
