Following a two and one-half year battle with cancer, Marvin Beeners died at his home in Lennox, SD on Saturday evening, May 25, 1996, having attained the age of 70 years, 11 months and six days.

Marvin Verlyn Beeners was born Jun. 19, 1925 in Lennox, SD, the son of William and Sophia (Schmidt) Beeners. He attended 12 years of school in Lennox, graduating from Lennox High School in 1943. He started working as a carpenter with his father during his teenage years. Following his father's retirement in 1962, he continued in the contracting business in partnership with his son, Keith, being known as Beeners Construction Company. He retired in 1988.

On Feb. 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Fodness at West Prairie Lutheran Church near Lennox.

They made their home in Lennox their entire 49 years of married life.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1964.

Survivors include his widow, Betty Jean; two sons: Rodney Beeners and his wife, Chantal, of Lennox, and Keith Beeners of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; Michelle, Matthew, Mindi and Max; his mother, Sophia Beeners, a resident at the Good Samaritan Center in Lennox; a brother, Dr. W.J. Beeners of Princeton, NJ; a sister, Sophie Miller of Sioux Falls; and a special cousin, Mary Dice of Sioux Falls.
