Tombstone located in Tinnin cemetery with inscribed name as James W. Westbrooks and dates as indicated. Given name was James William. Born in MS. Married Nancy E. Gatlin. Jan 1861; Ada, b. 12 May 1862; Lannie, b. 22 May 1872; Thomas Allen, b. 11 Jan 1874, (who married Thomas Missouri Thompson); Mary I., b. 24 Sep 1876, (who married Frank Cooper); Willie, b. 6 Jan 1878; James W., b. 4 Dec 1880, (who married Lucinda C. War Dept. Reply, 21 Feb 1910, Private, Co. I, 34th Texas Cavalry, enlisted 3 Mar 1862, last roll 29 Feb 1864, nothing stated as to his presence or absence. A. F. Merrill, 78, Pecan Gap, Delta Co., 16 Nov 1909, deposed they enlisted in Fannin Co., and he served in the same regiment. G. W. Fry, 74, Ladonia, 16 Nov 1909, deposed he served in the same regiment. *J. W. Westbrooks, Pvt., Co.
