Horace Cornelius PACKARD was born Aug. 21, 1831, at Rutland Vt.; the son of Robert and Diadama PACKARD. His youth was spent a Barnard, Vt. He married Philena HOWARD and had two children. He enlisted Oct. 9, 1861, in Co. C, 27th regiment. He served a year and eight months, and died, after a brief illness, July 3, 1863, at Newborn[sic], N.C., where he was buried.
