Arza I. Groves Services Today
Arza Irvin Groves, who had lived for the last 4 1/2 years in Wallowa where he and his wife operated the Wallowa City Dray, passed away very suddenly in Wallowa Sunday, July 27, 1952. Son of Frank M. and Cora Groves, he was born in Haxtun, Colo. January 16, 1906. In 1918 he moved to Clovis New Mexico where he lived until 1931. From 1931 to 1946 he made Sacramento, California his home, coming to Wallowa in 1947. He was married October 9, 1938 at Ft. Sumner, New Mexico to Lucy Miller. He was a member of the Christian church.
Survivors are his wife, Lucy, of Wallowa; his father Frank Groves of Sacramento, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Don Downing, Sacramento, Mrs. R. P. Miller, Del Paso Hgts, Calif,, Mrs. Tom Kennedy, Oceanside, Calif., and Mrs. Chet Forbes, Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, L. F. Groves, Wallowa, and L. L. Groves, San Clemente, Calif.; three step-daughters, Mrs. P.A. Phillips, Roswell, New Mexico, Mrs. R. T. Smith, Wallowa, and Mrs. Clyde Smithers, Hereford, Texas; one step-son, J. T. Crawford, Fair Oaks, Calif.; and fourteen grandchildren.
Final rites will be today at 2 p.m. from the Wallowa Christian church, with burial in the Wallowa cemetery.
Rev. Lyle Leach of Bend, Ore., will officiate and music will be furnished by members of the Church of Christ. Active pallbearers will be Marvin Hartle, E. W. Lively, Gene Lively, Art Johnson, Spencer Trump and Clarence Wilhelm. Honorary pallbearers selected are: Don Connor, David Couch, Vern Mason, Kenneth McKenzie, O. W. McKenzie and Ray Milligan.
