MARTHA L. STAPP daughter of WILLIAM STAPP SENIOR and MARY POLLY MAXWELL was born March 01, 1836 in Alabama, and died January 14, 1896 in Pickens County, Alabama. She married GREEN CARVER November 21, 1855, son of JOHN CARVER and NANCY CLAYTON.

1896, First person buried in the 'new' Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Pickens County, Alabama.

OBITUARY

While mirth and gladness have been reigning supreme in numerous homes in our city, gloom and deep seated sorrow held sway in the home of Mr. Green Carver. Grim monster death invaded the sanctity of our brother and carried away his life-long companion to fairer worlds on high.

The 13th of Jan. 1896 can never be forgotten on account of the sadness left in the hearts of the bereft. Mrs. Carver has been a patient sufferer for years. At last her blessed master has seen fit to relieve her pain and transported her to realms where there is no more sorrow, sickness nor death. The remains were carried to Pickens county for internment. May He who when on this earth was acquainted with grief, comfort the sorrowing ones as He alone can."
