Virginia Fobes, 85, of Green Bay died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008.
She was born March 31, 1923, in Phlox, Wis., to David and Leona (Pace) Bissonette. Virginia graduated from Antigo High School in 1942. She served her country during World War II in the Army Medical Corps. On Oct. 25, 1952, she married Marvin Fobes and they made their home in Green Bay. Virginia worked for the Internal Revenue Service and as a dental technician. She was a member of the American Legion. Virginia enjoyed swimming and fishing, the outdoors, and traveling with her husband.
Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Howard of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Wilma Bissonette of Phlox, and Helen Pederson and Lucille and Peter Johnson, all of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Harold and Gerald Bissonette; and three brothers-in-law, Herbert Howard, Matthew Baumgartner and Irving Pederson.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., Green Bay. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Military honors will follow. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum in Allouez.
