Ruth Rosalie Edenton Dunivan, 82, of Spotsylvania County died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Dunivan was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Lee W. Edenton Sr. and Elmira Slachter Edenton.

Survivors include her son, K. "Danny" Dunivan of Spotsylvania; two daughters, Jean Brown of Spotsylvania and Carolyn Newton of Stafford County; her brother, L. Campbell Edenton of Spotsylvania; her two sisters, Anne E. Hall of Fredericksburg and Shelby E. Hill of Spotsylvania; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren whom she greatly adored.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James T. Dunivan III and Ronald Lee Dunivan; four brothers, Lee W. Edenton Jr., Hiram E. Edenton, William Edenton and Raymond Edenton; and a sister, Hazel E. Martin.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Nickle officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 5602 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, Va. 22551.
