HOUSTON Joseph Augustus "Gus" Vaughn, 95, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Trace Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 1, 1905, in Chickasaw County to the late Robert Lee and Mary Allena Grissom Vaughn. He was a retired farmer and a member of Amity Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Elder Charles L. Porter officiating. Burial will be in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Alice Hill of Memphis and Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Houston; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Tessie Martin, Zelma Nichols and Wardie Lancaster; his wife, Annie Louis Earp Vaughn; two brothers, Ishmael Vaughn and Vernon Jennings.
Pallbearers will be W.L. Hill, Danny Lantrip, Barry Porter, Barry Martin, Bruce Vaughn and Joe Jennings.
