Civil War, Union, Private Co I 8th Pennsylvania Reserves (37th Volunteer Infantry)

Suggested by FAG contributor #47129937:
Enlisted July 15, 1861 at Bellton, (W)Va.; mustered in July 15/29, 1861 at Camp Wilkins, Wash., D.C.; age 19. "Died of wounds at General Hospital Alexandria, Va. Jan. 10/11, 1863." Buried at Alexandria National Cemetery, Alexandria, Va., Grave #676. According to census records, Isaac had a brother, Maxwell, the same age, who enlisted at Bellton on the same day and mustered out on May 24, 1864. Born on June 17, 1842, they were sons of James Riggs and Susanna Earnest, residents of Greene County, Pa. in 1850 & 1860. Maxwell lived in Marshall County and died there in 1924. He is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Moundsville. Some family members insist that these men were twins and were born in Marshall County; no proof has been found. This company was largely recruited at Waynesburg, Greene County, but Isaac Riggs enlisted at nearby Bellton, Marshall County.
