AGED PAIR DIE OF MOTOR CAR HURTS.
PARENTS OF THREE ELKHART RESIDENTS FATALLY INJURED AT NORTH MANCHESTER.
Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Conde of North Manchester -- the aged parents of Ed Conde of Simonton Lake, Paul Conde of 166 North Fifth street and Ray M. Conde of 829 East Indiana Avenue -- were fatally hurt when struck by an automobile at a street corner in North Manchester last Saturday night. Mr. Conde died at 9:30 o'clock Saturday night and his wife succumbed Sunday forenoon.
They were walking to their home from the business district and were caught on a street intersection by a car driven around a corner by Kenton Priser, an employee of a garage in the town. A heavy rain was falling and this obscured the view of the aged people, who were said to have stepped directly in the path of the machine.
Mr. Conde was about 88 years old, and his wife was but a few years his junior. The three sons living here were their only children. There is a grandchild -- Cecil, son of Ray Conde. The three sons who were notified of the accident shortly after it occurred, hastened to North Manchester by automobile.
The aged pair spent several summers here after their sons located in this community. Last summer they were at the Simonton Lake cottage of Ray Conde while his wife made an extended stay in California. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Conde returned home from a long visit in Houston, Tex., only a week ago last Saturday and on the return trip had stopped at North Manchester to see the aged pair.
