The Clarion Democrat, Clarion Pa., August 19 1920:
" With the shades of falling evening last Friday, August 13, 1920, at about 7:40 o'clock, the spirit of Mr. Edwin C. Faloon, one of the most highly esteemed and best known citizens of Clarion and Clarion county, quietly and almost without the knowledge of those at his bedside, left his tenement of clay and went home to his "home not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." He had gradually been losing strength and fading (unreadable word) and it was seem by loved ones and friends that he could not be with them very long, but the end came suddenly and also very peacefully. Probably no man in the community would be missed more than Mr. Faloon will be. Everybody knew him and he knew everybody, and everybody loved him because of his genial kindly disposition an dhis readiness to do anything to accomodate or oblige. By reason of his position as Engineer at the Court House since about 1885, he became widely known and enjoyed the friendship and good will of everybody he met. He would go out of his way any time to render a service or confer a favor. This with an equable temperament and a remarkable control of himself, made him one of the best, most efficient, most courteous officers ever about the Court House. As an engineer he had a large experience at the old Redbank Furnace, before he came to Clarion and was skillful and always dependable, as was demonstrated during his many years of faithful and intelligent service for the county. He also served many years as Court Crier for the County Courts, and here he also gave the most excellent and satisfactory service. Mr. Faloon was born in Butler county, Pa., August 2, 1857, the son of William and Lavina Faloon. When he left home to make a place in the world for himself he worked for some years at Redbank Furnace when it was still in active service making iron, and he came to Clarion in 1885, since which time he has made his home here. In 1880 he was married to Miss Jane Early, and two children now survive, namely: Mrs. Charles Haskell and Oliver Edwin Faloon, both of Clarion. His wife died about ten years ago, and on January 1, 1914, he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Dixon, of Piney township, who now survives him. One son, Harry W. Faloon and an infant daughter, besides his first wife, preceded him to the world beyond. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Guy B. Hawk and Mrs. Edith Weckerly, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Frank Clepper, Wattersonville; Oliver J. Faloon, DuBois; Robert W. Faloon, Detroit; Mrs. Newton Ferguson and Mrs. Laura Stanley, of East Brady. Mr. Faloon has been a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church for many years and has filled the position of Trustee for a long period of service. He was deeply interested in the work of the church and was a liberal supporter of all its enterprises. As long as his health permitted he was one of the most regular attendants of the church services. His faith had a marked influence on his life; he lived up to the ideals of christianity; his life was pure, upright and honorable. The deceased was prominent also in Masonry, being a member of Clarion Lodge, No. 277, F. & A.M.; Eden Chapter, No. 259, R.A.M.; Coudersport Consistory and the Knights Templar. For many years he has been the most efficient and attentive Tyler of Clarion Lodge and Eden Chapter and was thus one of the best known members of the fraternity in this section of the state. The funeral was held from his late home on South Fourth avenue last Monday afternoon, the services being conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Wm. E. Bartlett, assisted by Dr. John Ballantine. The beautiful committal service of the Masonic fraternity was observed at the grave by his brethern as they laid his body to rest in the Faloon lot in the Clarion cemetery. His going away leaves a marked vacancy in the community, in the church and in his home."
