He was born November 1, 1919 in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was the 13th child of William and Rosa Warner. Spencer was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his pleasant disposition. He never held a grudge against anyone. Spencer married his life-long sweetheart Nelda Smith on June 5, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. Spencer and Nelda raised 12 happy children.
Spencer was fortunate to witness many marvels during his 89 years. He grew up on a farm with no electricity and no running water. His teenage years were during the hard times of the great depression, which made a lasting impression throughout his life. He experienced rationing and hardships through World War II. Spencer heard radio broadcasts when they were first beginning in Utah. He saw television in its first years. He witnessed advances in medicine, transportation, and communications. He has always been happy, with an optimistic view of the future. Spencer easily made and kept friends.
He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He was an avid hunter when he was younger. His favorite pastime was making long drives with his family on Sunday afternoons. He learned early to be a hard worker when he grew up on the farm. He began operating his own business, an automobile repair station, Union Service in 1957. He enjoyed being his own boss and was kind to everyone, including those who could not pay their bills. He worked night shift at a second job at Kennecott as a diesel mechanic for many years to help make ends meet.
Spencer and Nelda's children are Ray (Cindy), Wes (Louise), Aleta (Tom), Ellen (Mike), Garth (Shauna), Noreen (Dave), Irene, Ralph (Regana), Kathy (Brian), Glade (Renee), Joyce (John) and Merril (Leslie). Spencer will be deeply missed.
