Jonathan Ott Allen died on Saturday, Dec. 20 of heart failure in Austin. Jonathan was born in Burnet to Dr. George Scott Allen and Mary Jane Ott Allen on Sept. 5, 1948.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca Allen Steffen and Jonathan Cain Allen; son-in-law, Lars Steffan; grandchildren, Keegan Allen Steffen, Mia Heida Steffen and Madeline Sally Steffen; siblings, Charles Thrasher Allen, Sarah Allen-McGinty, Alice Carragonne; and nephew and niece, Scott and Melissa Allen.

He was predeceased by his brother, George Scott Allen Jr.

Jonathan had very precious relationships with his former wife, Sally Cain, and his best friend Clifford Hilliard's children, Coy and Kyla Hilliard. Jonathan spent his life in an adventurous federal government career with many notable professional achievements. He lived in Washington D.C. and Germany and traveled the world with his family. He retired in 2006 and returned to his hometown. He cherished his reunion with family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Post Mountain Cemetery, with Father Ted Hervey officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Hay Ranch and residence of David and Sarah McGinty following the service.

Services are under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet.
