Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the twin brother of Charles Guy, he was the son of John W. and Florence G. Miller Guy. Both of his parents were born in Virginia. He lived in Redstone Township with his parents and later in Menallen Township with his mother and siblings. His father passed away in 1912. A mechanic by trade, he worked on vehicles and equipment at coal mines including the Searights Mine in Fayette County and the Mather Mine in Greene County. He was fired from the Mather Mine in the 1950's because he went back in after a cave-in to get his son, John, who didn't come out. They were both covered up for a couple of days until they were pulled out. Lived in Searights, Pennsylvania for most of his life. His wife passed away in 1982. After her death, he lived the rest of his life at a nursing home. He was the father of John W., Dorothy Noga, and James Guy.
