Funeral services were held for Lucy Jane Stroup September 5th at Pewitt Chapel in Ellington, with Elder Noel Meade officiating.
Interment in Polk Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Pewitt Service.
Lucy Jane Hill Stroup, daughter of the late Brooks and Evelyn Williams, was born October 5, 1881 and passed away on September 3, 1972 at the age of ninety years, eleven months and twenty seven days.
She was united in marriage to James William Hill. To this union six children were born. They are Lloyd Alvin [Jack] Hill of Ellington, Robert Linze Hill of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Carmon Martell Hill of Affton, Mo., Lillie Odell Smail of Ellington and a foster child, Helen Evelyn Rockwell of Roswell, New Mexico.
Her husband and two children, James Carmel and Aldeen Hill, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are five step-children, Nell Hays, Woodrow Stroup, Lonzo Stroup, Clara Stewart and Jess Stroup.
In 1945 she was united in marriage to Neal Stroup, who passed away in 1949.
She was converted and baptized in 1944.
She was a member of the Current River Chapter #239, Order of the Eastern Star, Eminence, Mo.
Surviving are five children, six step-children, Raymond Stroup, Dovie Foster, Nellie Cook, Dollie Turner and William Hill of Ellington and Edna Gore of Farmington; four sisters, Iowa Ellerman, Lula Corbin and Ethel Frazier of Eminence and Bertha Riddle of Clayton; one brother, Robert T. Williams of Ellington; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; twenty one great great grandchildren and many friends and other relatives who will mourn her passing.
