Widow of Courthouse Veteran Brinton Dies
The body of Mrs. Ada C. Brinton, 87, a former St. Joseph resident, is scheduled to arrive at the Heaton-Bowman East Chapel, 3609 Frederick avenue, late tonight.
Mrs. Brinton, died Monday at a hospital in Lakewood, Colo., after a length illness. She was the widow of Earl D. Brinton, who died Jan. 20, 1958. Mr. Brinton served for about 30 years as chief deputy circuit clerk, and was an authority on the circuit court and its history. Earlier he had been a deputy county clerk for a number of years. He was long prominent in Democratic politics here, being a protege of Dr. C. H. Woodson, a dominant power in the party. At the time of his death, he had been at the courthouse 52 years, a record in the history of the courthouse.
A native of Agency, Mrs. Brinton lived here the greater part of her life, her home being in the 2600 block on Faraon street. Several years ago, she went to Des Moines to make her home with her son, Roy Hunt. When he moved to Colorado, she went with him. She was a member of First Christian here.
In addition to her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive.

Services for Mrs. Ada C. Brinton, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Heaton-Bowman East Chapel, 3609 Frederick avenue. Dr. William Shoop will officiate. Burial will be in the Agency Cemetery.
Mrs. Brinton, a native of Agency, had lived in St. Joseph most of her life. She died Monday at a Lakewood, Colo., hospital after a long illness.
She was the widow of Earl D. Brinton, former chief deputy circuit clerk of Buchanan County. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
