Volant resident Katherine Louise Bowden Moon, 51, of Plain Grove Township died the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in her home. Born Aug. 21, 1957, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late William Leonard and Velma Mae Cooper Bowden. She married Harrison Ray Moon on June 21, 2003. He survives.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed taking care of her family, crocheting and collecting angels. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, Harlansburg.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Richard C. Eckley of Volant and Christopher A. Eckley of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, William R. Bowden of Sebring, Fla., and Charles L. Bowden of Slippery Rock; four sisters, Carol A. McFall of Cummings, Ga., Gladys D. Brest and Donna A. Borrelli, both of New Castle, and Shirley J. Jackson of Dawsonville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and one grandchild.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Unity Baptist Church, 304 Old Route 19, Harlansburg.A service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Gerald Caskey, pastor, will officiate.
