DEATH CLAIMS MARTHA BEERY - Lifelong Resident of Adams County Dies Today At Hospital
Mrs. Martha E. Beery, 80, a lifelong resident of in and near Decatur, died at 8:45 o'clock this morning at the Adams county memorial hospital.
She suffered a stroke Saturday while visiting in this city with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston, and was taken to the hospital.
She was born in Adams county September 22, 1860, the daughter of John and Anna Diarman-Burkhead. She was married to Christian Beery, and he died in 1925.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hansel Kreigh, of Tocsin, with whom she made her home; a son, Fred D. Beery of Monroeville; one brother, Frank Burkhead of Los Angeles, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Miller of Los Angeles, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston of Decatur and Mrs. Mary Burr of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. (CDT) Thursday at Beery Mennonite church, Rev. Charles Moore of Craigville officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body was taken to the Elzey & Sons' funeral home at Ossian and will be removed to the Kreigh residence in Tocsin this evening.

Mrs. Martha Beery, 80, Is Stricken While Visiting Sister; Rites Thursday

Mrs. Martha Beery, 80, of Tocsin, a native of Adams county, who had spent most of her life as a resident of the Decatur community, died Tuesday at the Adams county hospital at Decatur.
She suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday while visiting in that city with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, and was taken to the hospital.
She was born Sept. 22, 1860, the daughter of John and Anna Diarman-Burkhead. She was married to Christian Beery, who died in 1925.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hansel Kreigh, of Tocsin, with whom she made her home; a son, Fred D.
