Lorna Mae Burrack was born on April 30, 1924, in rural Delaware County, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Gienapp) Burrack. She graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1942 and attended Lennox College in Hopkinton for two years earning her teaching certificate. Lorna taught in the Greeley Public School for two years.

On July 24, 1946, Lorna married Francis "Gabby" Arthur in Castle Grove, Iowa. They had five children. Together they lived in Edgewood and Lorna was a homemaker and a home daycare provider.

Lorna died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, following a brief illness.

Lorna was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, United Methodist Women, and a past-member of the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, cooking, reading, family time, and traveling with family.

Survivors included four children, Mary (Jim) Petersen of Reinbeck, Nancy Ketring of Greenville, Ohio, Roger (Ronna) Arthur of Edgewood, and Annette (Bob) Watermiller of Reinbeck; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Paul (Esther) Burrack of Marion; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ethel Burrack of Manchester and Helen Arthur of Edgewood.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis "Gabby" Arthur; one daughter, Sheryll Arthur; a son-in-law, Gerald Ketring; two sisters, Wilma Koob and Louise Burrack; and one brother, John Burrack.
