Information Received from Russ Fokes (July 9, 2012) via Facebook Post:
John Fokes 1819-1860 served in Colonel Robert M. Coleman's Original Ranger Battalion. He joined at the young age of 16. He also fought under 1st Lt. George B. Erath in the Battle of Elm Creek. He was killed by Indians in 1860. (this date is not correct)

Fokes was originally engraved. Fokes was then stamped over and attempted to change to Fulcher, making it look like Fukeher.
