Abernathy Funeral at Honey Grove on Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Henson L. Abernathy, 74, were conducted Sunday afternoon at First Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. T. J. Watts. The Rev. T. J. Helms assisted.

Mrs. Abernathy, a widow, died at home here Friday night.

She was formerly Miss Anna May Simmons, born in Athens, Ala., May 16, 1876.

She had been a member of the Baptist Church during her several years residence here.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Lawson, Big Spring; Mrs. Bessie Franklin, Windom, and Mrs. Sallie Edward, besides a brother, William S. Simmons both of Honey Grove; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Abner May Abernathy Buried Sunday At Oakwood

Death of Mrs. Abner May Abernathy occurred Friday night, July 14, at 8:30 o'clock at her home on North Thirteenth Street.

She had been a resident of Honey Grove for many years and was a member of the Baptist church.

She married Henson L. Abernathy. Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Lawson, Big Spring, Mrs. Bessie Franklin, Windom, Mrs. Sallie Edwards, Honey Grove; one brother, W. S. Simmons, Honey Grove; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. J. Watts, assisted by Rev. Dewey Helms. Burial was made at Oakwood Cemetery by the Cooper Funeral Home.
