William Herbert Kennedy, 68, a resident of Burkittsville, died at his home late Thursday evening after a long illness.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Rachel *Delrimple Kennedy.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Ethel Horine Kennedy; a sister, Mrs. Moreau Rau, Coatesville, Pa.; a brother, Charles W. Kennedy, Atlantic, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was quite proficient in the electrical field and at one time was associated with the Franklin Electric Company of Philadelphia. Later he was Eastern division manager for the Bussman Manufacturing Company, St. Louis, from where he retired in 1946. A later association was with the Department of Congress, Washington, D.C., from whom he received a gold medal of honor for exceptional service. In more recent years he had conducted a general insurance business in Brunswick.
Mr. Kennedy was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Burkittsville.
Friends may call at the M. R. Etchison & Son Funeral Home, 106 Church Street, Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.. There will be no viewing. Services will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. His pastor, Rev. John L. Barnes will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Burkittsville.
