He was born in Dupont, La. On January 14, 1928 and lived in Metairie, La most of his life until his illness in 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Agnes Barron Pepitone of Dupont, La.
Brothers Newman Pepitone Ronald Pepitone, Calvin Pepitone Myron Pepitone, Pete Pepitone and sisters Elnora Pepitone Chenevert, Odette Pepitone Rivere, Evelyn Pepitone St. Romain, Odelia Pepitone and Lelia Pepitone Guillory.
He is survived by one sister Lurline Pepitone Neck of Fifth Ward, Louisiana, and two brothers; Elliott Pepitone of Scotland and James Travasos of Metairie, La. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pepitone retired from Lykes Lines after 50 years of employment as chief engineer. He traveled the world during his years with Lykes Lines and enjoyed his work and travels. He was also a Jefferson Parish licensed Electrician. Mr. Pepitone was a 50 year member in Good Standing of the Square and Compass Lodge No. 417; Initiated on Sept. 13, 1952. He was 32 Degree member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry, S.J., USA; A member of the Farhad Grotto, Harahan, Louisiana Grt: 02080, As well as a member of the Jerusalem Temple of Destrehan, Louisiana No. 2636. Mr. Pepitone took great pride and enjoyment in riding in many Mardi Gras parades with the Tin Lizzie Unit of Jerusalem Temple. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No 0401.
Visitation will be at Leitz- Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie, Louisiana, on August 18, 2004 from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Metairie, Louisiana.
