Pauline Grisham Skirvin of Aurora, Colorado, died September 30, 2008. She was 95 years old. She was blessed to live a fully vigorous life until her final illness.
Pauline was born July 21, 1913 at Elk Creek, Missouri, the daugher of well-known citizens Richard B. and Bessie Evans Grisham. She went to school at Elk Creek and finished in Cabool in the graduating class of 1931. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, and a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Missouri University, Columbia. Many area residents will remember her as a uniquely talented teacher at Elk Creek, Pleasant Grove or Cabool elementary schools. Pauline's experiences in those schools gave her a deep sense of pride and contribution. Her family's appreciation goes to the many former students who thanked her over the years for her care and guidance. Pauline also counseled in Raytown, Missouri and ended her 34-year career couseling in the public schools of Aurora, Colorado.
Pauline married Ernest W. Skirvin on August 19, 1929. Though they called various places home, their most treasured memories were those of growing up and contributing to the Elk Creek-Cabool areas. Ernest preceded her in death on April 11, 1986.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Paul Grisham of Cabool; and a sister, Edna Young of Dallas, Texas, as well as treasured aunts, uncles and cousins.
Immediate survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Harold Elliott; granddaughter, Paula Elliott; grandson and wife, Scott and Carla Elliott; and twin great-grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Elliott, all of Aurora, Colorado.
Also celebrating her long and productive life are her nieces and nephews and their families; her cousin, Max Forsythe; and her many friends and extended family in both Cabool and Aurora, Colorado.
A celebration of Pauline's life was held on October 8, 2008 in the atrium of Cherry Creek Retirement Village, her home for the last several years of her life. There was cremation. Interment will be in Cabool Cemetery, Cabool, Missouri beside her husband, Ernest.

Original Note, Thanks to Phyl:
Wife of Ernest, Mother of Kaye. Very sweet lady. I was lucky to have her and her husband for neighbors when they lived in Missouri
