On the 1820 assessment list of Wells Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania the parents of Charles were unable to pay for their children's schooling (became town charge). Names and dates of birth are given in that assessment list for Charles and two siblings as:

Charles Wright Knapp b. 23 Nov 1809.
Peter R. Knapp b. 5 June 1811.
Clarissa W. Knapp b. 13 Oct 1813 m. Martin M. Carr.

Other records substantiate the births for Peter and Clarissa and other children follow in an ordered spacing (there were thirteen total)

James W. Knapp b. 21 Feb 1816 Wells.
Ananias W. Knapp b. 3 Mar 1818 Wells.
David Gordon Knapp b. 13 May 1820 Wells.

So, I am confident that Charles was born in 1809 and not 1808.

Uncle Charlie Knapp, who has been sick for the past six months, died last Sunday evening, aged 84 years.

Funeral was held Tuesday at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. O. J. Golden. We have been intimately acquainted with Mr. Knapp for the past eight years, and during that time we have always found him pleasant and jovial, and above all an earnest devoted Christian, always at his place in church and prayer meetings so long as his health would permit. His remaining family consists of wife and six children, four sons and two daughters, all of whom were present at the funeral except Judson who lives in Ohio.

I am providing information about the children of Charles Wright Knapp and Elvira Judson. This information comes from census and family records. Parents and six children (Almeron through Charles A) can be found in the 1860 Census (Michigan, MONTCALM, Roll 555 Book 1, Page 741). I have included speculation about a 9th child, Calista, but she could have also been a grandchild. Thanks. Barb

Children of CHARLES WRIGHT KNAPP and ELVIRA JUDSON:
1. SAMUEL JUDSON KNAPP, b. 10 Nov 1836, Medina Co., Ohio; d. 1911, Montcalm Co, MI.
2. AMY KNAPP, b. 1838, Medina Co., Ohio.
3. ALMERON NATHAN KNAPP, b. 24 Jan 1840, Medina Co, Ohio.
4. ANGELINA KNAPP, b. 1843, Medina Co., Ohio.
5. ORIN KNAPP, b. 1843, Medina Co., Ohio.
6. ZEPHANIAH DAVID KNAPP, b. 12 Jan 1844, Medina Co., Ohio; m. ALMINA L. SEBRING, 30 Dec 1869, Montcalm Co, MI; b. 17 Jun 1848, Liberty, Jackson Co, MI.
7. CLARISSA R. (FANNY C) KNAPP, b. 1846, Ohio; d. Nov 1867. Married LOREN DAY, 01 Jan 1866, Otisco Twp, Ionia, MI. Daughter, Fanny Day, b. Sep 1866. Clarissa (Fanny) was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Kent Co, Michigan.
8. CHARLES A. KNAPP, b. Nov 1853, Michigan.
--? CALISTA KNAPP, d. 13 Sep 1855. It is pure speculation that Calista Knapp was a child born to Charles and Elvira, but she was placed in their burial plot (#35 in the Palo/VanVleck Cemetery, Ronald Twp, Ionia Co, MI) so there must have been a close relationship.

After Elvira's death, Charles married 2nd Eliza Miller, 16 Jan 1865 and 3rd Rhoda H. Butterfield Newberry, 23 Apr 1871.
